Par mes créations je tente de véhiculer une vision du monde, une émotion, un ressenti tout en me libérant des idées reçues, du beau et des performances techniques.

Dear friend,I hope you are doing well! This is Yuliya Makliuk, a potter from Ukraine. Two years ago, at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, you signed up to shelter potters-refugees in your home or studio. Whether you ended up hosting someone or not, I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your generous heart! And share a few updates from my side. Thanks to people like you, more than 50 Ukrainians were able to temporarily relocate to safer places and keep up with their pottery craft. You can read some of their stories on my Patreon, like the one about Dimyan and his family or this one about Kate and her daughters. Unfortunately, the war continues. All of us are trying to do our best to protect our country: some in the Defence Forces, others in the rear. Personally, I am trying to use my ceramics practice as a way to tell our story and to raise funds for war relief. Here's a brief overview of the charitable efforts I shared with my patrons at the end of last year.Besides, 2023 was a year when I started pursuing my long-time dream, against all odds: I published a book about sustainable ceramics called 'Potters Save the World'. It features a carbon footprint research of studio ceramics and personal stories of eco-friendly potters globally, including several interviews with Ukrainian ceramicists during the war. It was rather well-received, with positive reviews from ceramic rock-stars like John Britt and Julia Galloway. Thanks to the book's success, I started to receive many questions about sustainable studio practices from fellow ceramicists. There's a clear interest among those who wish to create, fire, and sell their work in a more eco-friendly manner. Maybe you are also among them.So I came up with the idea of the Potters Save the World Community on Patreon. As a member, you'll gain access to exclusive content on environmentally mindful pottery, based on my latest findings. This month, we're exploring zero-waste glazes, followed by recycled ceramics and raw glazing in the coming months. There is also a private Discord chat to talk to fellow eco-conscious potters, exchange ideas, and collaborate on solutions. Other perks include live Q&A sessions, special discount codes, and complimentary publications, to name just a few.Last but not least, your membership fees directly support my art practice and efforts for war relief in Ukraine. So if you are interested in developing a greener studio practice and want to continue supporting Ukrainian artists, this Community may be the right place for you. Check out the membership tiers on my Patreon www.patreon.com/HereAndNowPottery and join today! There's currently a 7-day free trial too, and an upcoming online training. Also, if you would like to receive my regular email updates about ceramics, sustainability, and charity, consider subscribing to the Here & Now Pottery email list forms.gle/AnLvZS266GEHxn9j6. The letter you are reading right now is a one-off and I won't send you any more unless you subscribe to the updates.Looking forward to hearing back from you. Again, I am so grateful for your solidarity!Warmest,Yuliya<Yuliya Makliuk author Potters Save the World (1).jpeg> ... See MoreSee Less
